Photojournalism With Impact
Journalist Isadora Kosofsky shares her award-winning work and personal journey with nearly 500 students at Rialto Middle’s Career Day.
Since 2022, Educada has equipped young people with the skills to critically understand, responsibly consume, and courageously create media in communities where access to local and regional journalism is limited. By expanding journalism education in underserved and geographically isolated regions, Educada is fighting not only for access to news, but teaching students how to shape it themselves.
Over 70% of our partnering journalists are women or journalists of color—groups historically underrepresented in journalism. Through writing workshops, media literacy training and one-on-one engagement with these journalists, students see themselves reflected in the media while developing tools to question narratives, amplify underrepresented voices and become informed leaders in their communities.
“Journalism — in both words and pictures — is extremely important to keep people informed about their community, country, and the world. If one is to be a good citizen it is vital to have a knowledge of current events. Throughout the world, democratically elected leaders respect the journalists, and dictators abhor and try to silence journalists. This shows the power of a free press. As a career, being a journalist is exciting and rewarding and very educational.”
