Educational Outreach was in the air in beautiful Savannah, Georgia, host city of the 2024 National Forum to Advance Rural Education. Educada director Caden Choi was invited to meet with education leaders at the forum by NREA executive director, Dr. Allen Pratt. Choi had a productive time connecting with educators and researchers who work with and in rural school districts. “Connecting with schools and connecting with one another was priority this weekend,” said Choi.
Against the backdrop of the Savannah River and the warmth of Southern Hospitality, approximately one thousand educators across the U.S. gathered to advance education in rural communities. Choi was able to share her work in bringing global news into small and rural towns with so many educators across the country. “I got a chance to share my work in journalism and media outreach, but more importantly, I learned so much by listening to the stories and experiences of other advocates and educators ,” said Choi. “Some of these leaders have been lobbying for their communities for over five decades, so it was quite humbling and educational for me.”
