Educada introduces the fundamentals of storytelling through photography and writing.
Educada’s Caden Choi led a workshop at a Tustin Unified School District elementary school, working with students who are members of their school’s leadership team. The visit centered on an introduction to journalism and media — covering both photographic and written storytelling — and concluded with an interactive writing workshop designed to give students their first experience with the skills needed to report and tell their own stories.
Students explored how journalists use both images and words to communicate ideas, inform communities, and spark meaningful conversations. The session encouraged them to think critically about the media they consume and to consider how they, too, can be creators of stories that matter.
The writing workshop that followed gave students a hands-on opportunity to put those ideas into practice — learning not just how stories are written, but why storytelling is a powerful tool for any future leader. What started off as quiet reflection turned into creative brainstorming. By the end of the visit, students had a foundation in the basics of journalism and an understanding of how critical thinking and clear communication go hand in hand.
